Good hotel for a reasonable price

The hotel is situated very close to the old town. Some of the rooms have partly sight of the ocean. The hotel is clean and the staff is usually vet friendly.

The breakfasts are really low quality and poor including quality of coffee.

A nice and comfortable hotel close to the center. Yet it was luckily not noisy. Breakfast offered a variety of things to choose from. Would have liked to stay longer

Hotel comes to the rescue

We booked into this hotel very last minute for one night as our flight was cancelled and rescheduled for the next day. The staff were very friendly on arrival, providing a quick and easy check-in after a stressful day. Rooms were comfortable and bathroom was clean and spacious. Nice shower. Breakfast was included so it was very good value for my friend and I.

Overall good stay, but there is room for improvement.

Location was great, clean and tidy.

Our room was noisy, the sheets felt old (with stiff bubbles). Also found a hair on the cheese during brakfast. And coffee was terrible

Wonderful stay

Place is close to the city centre - approx 15min walk. Restaurants nearby as well. Also, they have the opportunity to book a massage - after good hiking, that's what you need.

Comfortable hotel with sea view and nice pool

Great location, lovely spacious room with a big balcony and sea views. Comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Very helpful and friendly staff. 24 hour reception. Very nice pool and garden as well. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Smoking not allowed on the balcony, bathroom smelled

Clean room, comfortable bed, nice balcony, but in my opinion not 4-star level overall. Nice pool and reasonably clean, not too large but enough for a swim, good temperature and usually empty. Nice sun terrace by the pool. Decent breakfast, does the job, but not much variety compared to other places around. Coffee from the machine at breakfast is horrible, but you can ask the staff to make you an espresso (at another capsule coffee machine behind the bar), which is much better. Very good location, lots of good restaurants close by and short walk to the city center. Friendly staff in general.

SMOKING IS NOT ALLOWED ON THE BALCONY because they are really close together and without separators, so smoke can get into other rooms. However, nobody tells you this until you ask for an ashtray. If we knew before we would have chosen another place to stay for sure. At least in room 203, the bathroom smelled like a canal really badly (almost vomited every time I took a shower) during our whole stay, especially when turning any kind of water on. We reported it on the second day but they didn't or couldn't do anything about it, just apologised. Much less important, but had to be said, the music they play on the terrace drives you crazy. Exactly the same 15 songs on repeat day and night, smooth jazz covers of popular songs. If you are a smoker and need to go to the terrace every time, it will hurt :))

Pleasant and quiet.

Very calm and peaceful great for if you just want a nice quiet holiday, very clean and nice way to spend an afternoon in the balcony of your room. Staff were very friendly and helpful ,were happy to give suggestions of where to eat or go visit on my stay.

For the price the breakfast could have been better, especially the coffee, and the bread could have been fresh at least. I am not a big fan of chlorine pools but that’s my preference.

We cannot fault Madeira Bright Star. The hotel had excellent facilities, just as described. The hotel was very very clean, the breakfast was delicious a s the staff were exceptional and the location was brilliant. 1 min walk from lots of local restaurants, bars, casino and a 10 -15 min walk to the centre of the city. We highly recommend the hotel and will certainly be coming back.
